Attorney Johnny L. Griffin, III

Mr. Griffin is licensed to practice in state and federal courts in California. Mr. Griffin started his legal career in 1985 as a Deputy District Attorney in Kern County. He then served in the same position in  Sacramento County.

In 1990, he advanced to the United States Department of Justice and served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California for 8 years. He also served as the United States Attorney’s Civil Rights Coordinator where he was responsible for the investigation and criminal prosecution of federal civil rights violations.

During his time as a federal prosecutor, he was assigned to the Special Prosecutions Unit where he was responsible for the investigation and prosecution of large-scale organized criminal enterprises. Additionally, he served in Washington, D.C. as the Assistant Director of the Office of Legal Education where he was responsible for the nationwide development and training of Assistant United States Attorneys.

In 2000, Mr. Griffin decided to put his 15 years of litigation experience into private defense practice by establishing the Law Offices of Johnny L. Griffin, III.  Because he knows how the prosecution thinks, he can plan and execute an effective criminal defense strategy.

 

In his years of private practice, Mr. Griffin has obtained favorable and remarkable results for clients in a variety of cases, including felony cases, misdemeanor cases, civil rights cases, and employment cases. 

In addition to his private practice, and because of his expertise, reputation and 35+ years of litigation experience, Mr. Griffin currently serves as a Settlement Conference Pro Tem Judge for the Sacramento County Superior Court and as a legal analyst for KCRA Channel 3 news (NBC affiliate). Mr. Griffin received his bachelor’s degree from California State University Sacramento in 1981 and his J.D. degree from McGeorge School of Law in 1984.

Mr. Griffin is authorized to practice in the Supreme Court of California, all California Courts of Appeal, and all Superior Courts of California.  In addition, Mr. Griffin is admitted to practice in the following Courts: United States Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, United States District Courts for the Eastern District of California, Northern District of California, Central District of California, and Southern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin.
