Ms. Miqbel received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of the Pacific, Stockton California, in 2004. She received her J.D. degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law in 2007.
Ms. Miqbel served as the Civil Rights Coordinator at the Los Angeles and Orange County chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA). At CAIR, she was directly responsible for client and case management which included complex civil rights investigations. Further, Ms. Miqbel personally created and presented "Know Your Rights" workshops at community centers, college campuses and graduate schools in the greater Los Angeles area.
In addition to her work with CAIR, Ms. Miqbel worked closely with the Orange County Human Relations Department in decreasing hate crimes in the community. She also assisted the Orange County Sheriff's Department with its academy training on Cultural Sensitivity and Diversity. Ms. Miqbel holds a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Certificate, and has worked with the Crisis Prevention Institute, Inc. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Ms. Miqbel is fluent in Arabic.
